Acquired Riches: Highlights From The Hofstra University Museum Collection
This exhibition, celebrating Hofstra University's 75th anniversary, highlights the artists, genres, and cultures represented in the Hofstra University Museum collection. On view are paintings by Karel Appel, Edwin Dickinson, Conrad Felixmüller, Paul Gauguin, George Grosz, Johan Barthold Jongkind, and Joan Mitchell; works on paper by Jean Charlot, Arthur Bowen Davies, James Rosenquist, and Georges Rouault; photographs by Donna Ferrato, Ralph Gibson, Danny Lyon, August Sander and Andy Warhol; and works of art from Africa, China, Japan, Mexico and Oceania. Displaced Persons Camps: Rebuilding Culture And Community In The Aftermath Of World War II

For Us The Living” – The Civil War In Paintings
The sights, feelings and drama of the Civil War are portrayed in an exhibit of paintings by Mort Künstler, considered by many to be the leading contemporary painter of Civil War scenes. His work is esteemed for its dramatic intensity and for an extraordinary level of authenticity that results from intensive research. Long Island Photo Meet Up Exhibition

Regional Juried Photgraphy Exhibition

Rock On! Masterworks of Rock Photography
An exhibit of more than 50 images of rock ‘n roll musicians from the early days of Elvis Presley, Little Richard and Chuck Berry, through the classic period of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Doors, to today’s hip-hop musicians Tupac Shakur and LL Cool J. These iconic images by rock’s master photographers reveal the extraordinary artistry that has created a compelling visual record of self-expression in the second half of the 20th century. This exhibit features photographs by Joel Brodsky, William Coupon, Bob Gruen, Art Kane, Jonathan Mannion, Mick Rock, Mark Seliger, Allan Tanenbaum, Alfred Wertheimer, and others. Through Jan. 9.
