“It’s important to be fitted correctly, even from a health perspective,” said Sera. “The wrong size bra can create back problems. Shoulders can become sore, skin can get irritated, and even circulation can be compromised.

“Alterations on a bra shouldn’t be necessary. If you are told the bra needs to be taken in, you probably need a different brand or size. Maybe the store doesn’t have the bra in stock that you really need. Companies pay attention. There are bras for petite women with smaller shoulders, as well as sizes for the very large. If we don’t have the size that’s needed, we can order it.” Women should remember that the size needed can change with weight or even age, which is why a professional fitting, which includes measurements, is the wisest way to shop for a bra.

In addition to everyday bras, Bare Essential Intimates carries panties, chemises, peignoirs, bustiers, garters, shapers, sports bras, hosiery, and nursing bras.
