The Elmont American Legion mustered at 9:30 a.m. at the Sewanhaka High School parking lot on Memorial Day and led the traditional parade in honor of the soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen and Coast Guardsmen who died in service to their nation. The parade ended at Elmont Memorial Library for solemn ceremonies.
The Franklin Square parade and services began at 10 a.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars at 68 Lincoln Road., proceeded to Hempstead Turnpike and ended at the gazebo in Rath Park for Memorial Day ceremonies.
