Long Beach Public School's 2024-25 budget passes; Pinto and Pace re-elected to board

Voters passed the Long Beach School District's 2024-25 budget Tuesday night by a vote of 1,466 to 439.

Despite numerous concerns surrounding the budget throughout the year, the district passed it’s $155.9 million budget, a 2.85 percent increase from the previous year.

Incumbents Sam Pinto and Alexis Pace were also re-elected to the School Board, beating out challengers Harold Webb and Kristin McChesney, with 1,008 and 890 votes, respectively.

“I would like to thank the community you for their confidence in me and support I would like to congratulate Sam Pinto and thank the other candidates for entering the race,” Pace said. “I am excited to continue to serve the Long Beach school community.”

Pinto shared similar sentiments, stating, “I’d like to express my gratitude to the community for their support of the budget and their continued confidence in my stewardship as a Board of Education trustee. Congratulations to Miss Pace, and appreciation to Miss Chesney and Mr. Webb for their participation in the election.”
