Long Island Cares mobile breakfast truck recently garnered support for their food drive from Assemblyman Ed Ra, the students from St. Anne’s School of Garden City, as well as students and administrators from Notre Dame School of New Hyde Park.

The food truck delivers ready-to-eat, nutritious meals to children facing food insecurity. Things heat up for the food truck at the beginning of summer, when school breakfast and lunch programs are not in session.

The food drive this year collected 164 pounds of food. While roughly $170 million was secured for expanded free school meals in this year's state budget, Ra said there is still more to be done for people in need.

“The small act of kindness you showed will make a big difference for a child in need of a healthy meal,” said Ra. "Long Island Cares and every person who donates to the mobile truck are helping to bridge the gap and ensure no child is left hungry,” added Ra
