Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano honored six local women business owners during a ceremony held on March 29 to celebrate Women’s History Month in Nassau County. The program, “Made in Nassau County,” focused on female-owned businesses engaged in manufacturing, in Nassau County.

Among the honorees was Dr. Dilcia Granville, Ph.D., owner and founder of Dip & See, LLC in Elmont. The first of its kind, the Dip & See indicator detects grams of sugar and glucose in food. Granville said she became inspired to invent a sugar detector for food after learning that a diabetic went into a coma for three months after drinking a product that was marketed as a sugar-free beverage. Granville is also an author and lecturer, and is currently working on expanding the company’s product line.

Other awardees included Vicki Mate, owner and founder of The Crispery in Roslyn; Roberta Perry, owner of Scrubz Body Scrub, Inc. in Bethpage; Stacey Rose, owner of the Cartridge World of Mineola/Garden City; Susan Axelrod, founder and chairwoman of Love and Quiches Desserts in Freeport; and Noreen Carro, vice president and co-owner of LMN Printing Co., Inc. in Valley Stream.
