As long-time business owners in Valley Stream who are heavily involved in the community, Frank and Dominick Ciaccio wanted to bring in something more. Seeing the need for a friendly and affordable delicatessen, they sold Valley Hut Convenience Store on Rockaway Avenue, and in September, opened Amici Gourmet Deli in North Valley Stream.

“We cater to everyone,” said Frank Ciaccio, who added that he loves Valley Stream and participates in events and fundraisers whenever he can. “The location is great, not far from Franklin Hospital and the schools of District 13. We have a soft spot for the kids. The deli sponsors the Valley Stream Hornets, giving out free meals, and supports the Valley Stream Baseball League.” He and Dominick individually contribute to St. Jude’s Research Hospital for Children, volunteer at New York City soup kitchens every Thanksgiving, and take part in Breast Cancer Society Walks.

The Ciaccio brothers up grew up in a family that owned restaurants and pizzerias. While you’ll definitely find authentic Italian home cooking at Amici — like their father’s fabulous meatballs, lasagna, and sausage and peppers — the deli targets the diverse array of cultures of in the area. From quesadillas to a Greek salad to a Cubano Panini, there is something for every taste and penchant. Keeping the prices as low as possible, they hope to have customers coming back for more. Free delivery is available to surrounding towns. And, Amici Gourmet Deli can cater all types of events, from five to 1,000 people, providing food, servers and virtually whatever else is needed.
