Three charged in selling alcohol and tobacco to minors in Elmont and Valley Stream

Nassau police said that three men were arrested, including an Elmont resident, for allegedly selling alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to minors at businesses in Elmont and North Valley Stream.

The men were caught through the Project 21 initiative using officers from the Problem Oriented Policing Unit and the help of underage agents on July 12.

Jashanpreet Singh, 18, of Landau Avenue, Elmont, allegedly sold alcohol and tobacco products to a minor at the Valero gas station on Franklin Avenue in North Valley Stream.

Singh is charged with prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage, unlawfully dealing with a child, unlawful sale of tobacco products, unlawful sale of tobacco products to a minor and improper posting.

Alejandro Bonilla-Prado, 65, of Lakewood Avenue, Jamaica, allegedly sold alcohol to a minor at SMB Grocery, on Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont. He is charged with prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage to a minor, unlawfully dealing with a child and unlawful sale without an appropriate license.

Bonilla-Prado and Singh were issued desk appearance tickets. Their next court date is July 28 at First District Court in Hempstead.

Mohammed Elmadah, 25, 45th Street, Long Island City, allegedly sold tobacco products to a minor at Gas Pac Snack Box, Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont. Elmadah is charged with unlawfully dealing with a child, unlawful sale of tobacco products, unlawful sale of tobacco products to a minor and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He will be arraigned on July 13 at First District Court in Hempstead.
