Troop 294 to participate in St. Baldrick’s fundraiser

Elmont’s Boy Scout Troop 294 will is holding a fundraiser throughout February for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation — a volunteer-driven charity that funds more childhood cancer research grants than any volunteer organization, after the U. S. government. In celebration of the fundraiser, on March 11, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Troop 294 leaders and Scouts will be shaving their heads at Lily Flanagans, located at 528 Main St. in Islip.

To participate by collecting donations online, visit www.stbaldricks.org and sign up as a Shavee, and set up a personal webpage that includes the organization “BSA Troop 294” and location “Lily Flanagans.” To donate to the troop, go to https://www.stbaldricks.org/teams/mypage/75204/2012.

“All you have to do is look at one of the cancer sickened children walking around with no hair because of chemo-therapy and remember that you are healthy and your hair will grow back,” Troop 294 Scoutmaster David Goldblum, an Elmont resident, recently wrote to possible participants.
