Carey holds off Elmont, 21-18
Peter Frutkoff/Herald
Carey's Matt Robison, right, had receiving and rushing touchdowns in Saturday's win over Elmont.

It wasn’t as great an afternoon for Elmont senior quarterback Michael Braun, who threw for 111 yards and one touchdown but went 9-for-23 and suffered seven sacks. Senior Daniel Crawford, who made the play of the day when he took a fumble the length of the field, had three receptions for 72 yards.

“We haven’t raised our game against the better teams, but we’ll be dangerous in the first round of the playoffs,” Hegi said.

The Spartans close the regular season at home against Calhoun next Saturday at 1:30 p.m., while the Seahawks travel to Kennedy.

“We played with a lot of intensity and energy,” said Dente, who also had six tackles. “It’s such a tough conference. You have to bring it every week.”
