Ravens beat NY Jays in second double-header game

The Franklin Square Ravens baseball team, a local traveling team of students ages 12 and under, won its second double-header game against the New York Jays on Sunday at Rath Park, bringing the team to a 3-1 record for the record.

After a 12-4 loss in the first game, the Ravens returned with a 12-3 win, bolstered by two grand-slam homeruns by players Tom Graziano and Nick Acquafredda. Pitchers Justin Riccobono and Nick Acquafredda also helped to seal the win.

“They came back with the right attitude, and they ended up winning the game,” said Charlie Porcasi, the team’s co-manager. “The kids play well. We are one of the more competitive teams in this division, and we’re doing well.”

The Ravens, managed by Tom Gallant, are scheduled to play another more than a dozen games before the end of their regular spring-summer season. According to Porcasi, the team is then planning to compete in the Cooperstown Dreams Park national invitational youth baseball tournament, held in Cooperstown in Augusut.

The Ravens’ next game — a double-header against the Long Island Colts — is scheduled for May 6 at 5:45 p.m., at Rath Park in Franklin Squre.
