Photos: Daniel Jeremias achieves Eagle Scout rank

The Boy Scouts of American Troop 93 in Franklin Square has inducted its latest Eagle Scout.

Daniel Jeremias achieved the coveted honor of Eagle Scout on June 17. Family, friends, members and leaders of Troop 93 gathered at the VFW Post 2718 to celebrate the occasion with a ceremony.

For his leadership project, Jeremias created a remembrance garden as a tribute to the late Pastor Fred McElderry of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. The beloved pastor passed away in 2020 after a long battle with cancer.

Jeremias started planning the project in 2019, but faced a delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He raised money to create a raised flower garden and a engraved memorial bench through an Applebee’s fundraiser. Family, friends and members of congregation also donated to the project.

Through Jeremias’ fundraising efforts, he was able to create a paved entryway through the church’s outdoor garden, which is used for summer services.
