Elmont Memorial named to AP school honor roll

Sewanhaka School District high school Elmont Memorial was named to the College Board Advanced Placement School honor roll and earned silver distinction.

The distinction was earned becaue 61 percent of Elmont Memorial seniors took at least one AP exam during their high school career, 38 percent scored a three or higher on one or more AP exams and 26 percent took five or more AP exams.

Interim Sewanhaka School District Superintendent Thomas Dolan was happy to learn that the high school received this distinction.

“It’s a credit to the school’s teaching and administrative staff, and also recognizes the hard work and achievement of our Elmont students,” he said.

College Board recognizes schools AP programs that deliver results for students while broadening access. The recognition is achieved on an annual basis when schools display a commitment to increase college-going culture, provide college credit-earning opportunities for students and maximize their college readiness.
