The Nassau County District Attorney’s Public Corruption Bureau executed a search of the Town of Hempstead Building department on Monday, according to local news reports.
According to those reports, a number of digital files were seized from the town’s IT Department.
The department has drawn fire from a number of sources in the past few months for the way in which it carried out assessments following Super Storm Sandy. Those assessments included what FEMA has referred to as “procedural errors,” allegedly keeping many homeowners from receiving compensation to which they may have been entitled. They may also have resulted in some homes remaining underinsured against any future flood damage.
