Paolo Pironi of Pironi Homes in Franklin Square has been named the second vice president of the Long Island Builders Institute executive board during a recent ceremony in Ronkonkoma.

He along with other members of the executive board were inducted by Suffolk County Presiding Officer Kevin McCaffrey, who told the organization that he has “seen the economic engine that this industry creates for our downtowns firsthand.”

Joining Pironi on the board are Martin Dettling of the Albanese Organization as president, Vincent Calvosa of the Calvosa Organization as chair, Anthony Bartone of Terwilliger & Bartone Properties as vice president, Robert Cartelli of Outstanding Plumbing & Heating as associate vice president, Jon Weiss of B2K Development as treasurer, and Ken Abrami of Tritec Real Estate as secretary.

“I am honored to serve as president of such a dynamic and influential organization,” Dettling said, in a release. “I am dedicated to advancing this association through growth and collaboration in order to reinforce Long Island’s homebuilding and remodeling industry.”

Founded in 1941 and representing more than 700 builders, remodelers and associate members, the institute acts to advance the interests of the industry by regularly communicating with local and state government, reaching out to the community, and working to expand the business networks of its members.

Paolo Pironi is named for his grandfather, who founded Pironi Builders with his son Angelo — and Paolo’s father — in 1975.

Pironi Homes was started in 1979 by Angelo, and built into what it is today by Angelo and his wife Silvana, according to the company’s website, building more than 120 homes across Long Island.

The younger Paolo has since opened a commercial division known as Pironi Construction Co., focused on multifamily apartments, shopping centers and office buildings.
