The Sewanhaka Central High School District is searching for its next superintendent, and will be holding a meeting on Thursday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m., in the auditorium of the Sewanhaka High School, at 500 Tulip Ave. in Floral Park. The Sewanhaka Board of Education is asking the public to submit comments for the superintendent search by March 4, through a survey on the district's website, but new comments can still be brought to the March 10 meeting.

Warren Meierdiercks, the current superintendent of the Sewhanaka Central High School District, announced in December that he will be retiring on June 30. Meierdiercks has been superintendent of the district for the past five years. He was once a student in the district, and served the district in different roles for 37 years, including as a teacher, chairperson, basketball and baseball coach, and assistant superintendent for finance and operations.

The March 10 meeting is community residents' opportunity to have their voices and opinions heard, regarding the district's next superintendent. This event is open to the public, and everyone's feedback is welcome. Jean Fichtl, president of Sewanhaka's Board of Education, said the district will be running an advertisement in the New York Times on March 13 for superintendent applications, and the deadline for applications will be shortly after that.

The public can submit comments regarding the district's superintendent search online: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/sewanhaka.
