Sewanhaka High School received a visit from China on March 12, when students and chaperones from Shenzen Experimental School #2 and Quanzhou #7 High School in China came to New York for a robotics competition.

While participating in the New York City FIRST Robotics Regional Championships at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, they also sat in on classes at Sewanhaka.

The visiting students had the opportunity to observe various classes offered through the district’s Career and Technical Education Program including Corporate Communications & Digital Imaging, Architecture and Instrumentation & Automation.

Sewanhaka Central High School District Superintendent Dr. Ralph Ferrie, Sewanhaka Principal Debra Lidowsky and Assistant Principal Peter Dalton had an opportunity to speak with their Chinese counterparts about the differences in public school education in China and the United States during the visit. They also participated in a videoconference with the principal of Shenzhen Experimental School #7.
