Nearly 1,000 local residents attended the 17th annual Covert Avenue Chamber of Commerce Street Fair, which took place on Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and featured family fun, food, vendors, face-painting, bouncy and mechanical rides, and musical and dance performances.
The chamber holds the event each year to help residents become more familiar with merchants along Covert Avenue.
The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter and Pack Ethic Rescue offered pet adoption information at the event, as well as the Long Island Bulldog Rescue, which set up a bulldog kissing-booth.
