Who says you can’t find that old-time music anymore?

The Franklin Square Library on Lincoln Road was the place to be for the music of yesteryear, as a pair of Nassau County musicians brought back all the beauty and skill of a golden age of American music.

Thanks to Ray Allotta, banjo-man extraordinaire, and Bill Seyffarth, Franklin Square residents got the opportunity to enjoy a musical style that fell by the wayside decades ago, but still deserves to have a little time in the spotlight.

Allotta and Seyffarth travel to communities in the area, sharing old hits including “You Are My Sunshine,” bring along sheet music and lyrics so everyone can participate.

The Banjo Sing-along was part of Franklin Square’s Sunday event series, with a different show every week. District 17 residents can call the library at 488-3444 for more information.
