Thousands without power in Franklin Square-Elmont

UPDATE 6:10 a.m. Oct. 30

At least 9,593 customers in Elmont are without power as are 11,593 in Franklin Square. LIPA has stopped responding to outages because of the strong storm conditions. Fire departments and ambulances won't respond to calls in evacuation zone areas once sustained winds exceed 50 miles-per-hour.
