Students at Freeport High School serenaded their teachers, peers and families with vocal perfection during the Choral Program of the Spring Festival of the Arts.

The evening’s program featured a medley of performances by the Concert Chorus, Ninth Grade Select Chorus and Combined Ninth Grade Mass Chorus, led by Director Tim Warner, and the Mixed Chorus and Select Chorale, led by Director Monique Retzlaff. The groups’ harmonies also featured several solo performances by standout vocalists.

Performances by Warner’s groups included “Jubilate Deo” by Emily Crocker and “Bound for Jubliee” by Joyce Eilers, which was presented by Madrigal singers. Retzlaff’s groups performed “The Spheres” by Ola Gjeilo and “Ritmo” by Dan Davison, among various others. The evening, which also featured a song-and-dance performance of select numbers from Motown the Musical, culminated with a performance of “Ride the Chariot,” featuring the Mixed Chorus, Select Chorale and alumni. The groups received standing ovations throughout the evening.

The concert spotlighted the vocal melodies of the high school’s choral students, and served as a testament to the hard work and dedication of Freeport Public School District’s arts and music department.
