Assemblyman Brian Curran announced that his Thanksgiving food drive for Sharon’s Pantry in Rockville Centre was a success.

Donations were collected from all across the 21st Assembly District — which includes Baldwin, East Rockaway, Freeport, Hewlett, Lynbrook, Malverne, Oceanside, Rockville Centre, South Hempstead and West Hempstead — and donated to the food pantry. The Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, in cooperation with Curran’s office, also donated turkeys this year.

Sharon’s Pantry, named after Sharon Sheppard, the assistant director of the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in RVC, focuses on helping end the scourge of food instability facing the community. It also helps provide meals to the homeless, underserved and veteran populations in Rockville Centre, Lynbrook, Malverne and Baldwin.

“I truly am grateful, but not surprised the residents of the 21st District and Green Acres Mall would come together to help those in need during this holiday season,” Curran said in a statement. “I want to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and a special thank you to Sharon’s Pantry for going above and beyond to help the less fortunate. The holiday season is the season of giving, so I encourage everyone to give this time of year if you can and help make someone’s holiday extra special.”
