Freeport Mayor Robert Kennedy set to win third term

Incumbent Mayor Robert Kennedy has won his re-elction bid against challenger and Village Trustee Carmen Piñeyro, according to an unofficial count from Village Hall. 

With about 100 percent of the votes estimated to be in, Kennedy received 3,001 votes, with Piñeyro receiving 1,972 votes. 

Kennedy’s team, of the Unity/Home Rule Party, also swept the races for the two village trustee positions and judge position. 

Incumbent Ronald Ellerbe received 2,983 votes, and newcomer Evette Sanchez received 2,937 votes. 

Incumbent Judge V. Roy Cacciatore received 2,910 votes.
