Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas announced that Nicole Pollock, 26, of Freeport, was officially arraigned on March 4, on 13 grand jury indictment charges for a high-speed crash that killed a 39-year-old mother and injured the victim’s eight-year-old son. The charges include aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and reckless endangerment.

“These Grand Jury charges allege that an eight-year-old boy’s mother was killed in front of him because of this defendant’s decision to recklessly drive drunk,” DA Singas said. “My office is committed to obtaining justice for this young man and his family, although nothing will change this terrible loss. They have our sincere condolences.”

Pollock was driving a 2012 Nissan Rogue around midnight on the Meadowbrook Parkway, on Feb. 2, at 80 to 90 mph when she hit the rear of a 2006 Kia driven by Lissette Quintanilla, 39 of South Hempstead, state police said. Quintanilla lost control of the vehicle after the crash, and the car cross all three lanes of the parkway, off the road, onto the right shoulder and through the guardrail, slamming into a tree.

Quintanilla was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, where she died. Her son was taken to Cohen Children’s Medical Center in Queens. According to reports, the boy underwent surgery on his arm. Pollock was allegedly intoxicated during the incident and was arrested as she attempted to walk away from the scene, Nassau County Police added.

Senior Assistant District Attorneys Christopher Casa and Lisa Corso, of DA Singas’ Vehicular Crimes Bureau, are prosecuting the case.

Pollocks bail was continued at $200,000 bond or $100,000 cash. If convicted of the highest charge, she could spend a maximum of 25 years in prison.
