For nearly 20 years, the North Shore community gathers at the high school gym for “Sports Night,” an annual event full of friendly competition. Each year students in grades 9 through 12 team up with their classmates to compete in bouts of athletics, agility and academia.
Sports Night 2019 kicked off on Feb. 28 with much pomp and circumstance. This year’s theme was TV Channels: the freshman class was MTV; the sophomore class was ESPN; the junior class was Nickelodeon; and the senior class was Disney.
The annual event draws a roaring crowd of student athletes, parents and faculty members who come to watch the action unfold. Some of the events included a dance competition, tug of war, relay races, cage volleyball and an obstacle course. Students also engaged in an Academic Bowl, which gave competitors a chance to showcase their knowledge.
The senior class won the first place title by single digits, followed by the juniors, who placed second, the sophomores, who placed third, and the freshmen, who placed fourth.
