Island Park budgets pass and unopposed candidates are elected

The Island Park School and Library budget passed, Kathleen Clancy McDonough was elected to the school board and Tom McCreight was elected to the library board.

The school budget passed by a 300 to 100 vote margin, The library budget by a vote of 314 to 86.

There were 334 votes for McDonough and 300 for McCreight.

The Island Park Schools $38.78 million spending plan is actually $120,198 smaller than this year’s — a .31 percent decrease. The proposed $31.82 million tax levy, as well, is .18 percent smaller than the current year.

Island Park’s library has a very small tax levy of $1.28 million — an increase $1,540 or .12 percent in it’s almost $1.32 million budget. That comes out to 50 cents per household.
