Assemblyman Todd Kaminsky (D-Long Beach) went to Posh Pets Animal Shelter in Long Beach on Mar 9, to announce he is co-sponsoring a package of three pet friendly bills.

One of the bills would establish a tax credit for pet adoption, currently, there is no tax credit.

Another bill would mandate that animal shelters that receive funds from New York State, release annual reports on intake and disposition of animals. This legislation aims to provide a safe environment for our pets and those who wish to adopt them,” said Kaminsky.

The last bill would establish regulation of toxic chemicals in pet products. “Toxic chemicals in pet products and can render pets susceptible to chemical poisoning.” he said.

Linda Vetrano, President of Posh Pets Rescue said, “We are encouraged by the pet friendly legislation Kaminsky is co-sponsoring to promote adoptions and pet safety.”
