Scale model exhibit at Island Park Library

Scale model builder Joey Rudolph, a former Island Park resident, is showing an exciting exhibit, “Hovercraft Cars,” at the library this month. Rudolph takes traditional model cars and modifies them in imaginative ways. The models are a labor of love. Each takes many hours to complete and Rudolph prides himself on making creative use of everyday materials in his modifications, for example, using springs from a ballpoint pen for car parts. In this exhibit, he imagines how hovercraft cars might look and modifies the model cars to match his imagination. Another unusual feature of Rudolph’s displays are the details: people, a workbench or a robot. The hovercraft exhibit includes the Batmobile.

Rudolph will be in the library the afternoon of July 24, working on one of his models. The exhibit will be on display until mid-August.

“Joey Rudolph is a true artist who has won trophies for his fascinating, imaginative work,” said library director Jessica Koenig.
