Beautifying the IP Library

Posted

Another beautiful creation now graces the walls of the Island Park Public Library. Painted by local artist Evan Davis, the “Wizard of Oz” characters have the “Emerald City” in sight, as they make their way down the Yellow Brick Road.

Formally educated at the Parson’s The New School for Design, Davis has worked in illustration and advertising.

In 2005 he created the first mural for the Island Park Library, with the help of Steven Foster, Mary Garthwaite and Cathy Marino. Last year he created a “Jack and the Beanstalk” mural for the children’s reading area.

He also had a display of his individual art works at the library last December.

Davis would like to paint murals on buildings in Island Park, much like Freeport has, which, he says, “would make the town and village more attractive and inviting.”
