Burritos, with a side of fundraising

School 4 raises money at Moe’s

To help raise money for upcoming events, the School 4 PTA’s Sixth Grade Committee turned to a time-honored fundraising tradition — rolling burritos at Moe’s Southwest Grill.

Teachers, staff and members of the PTA gathered at the Oceanside Moe’s on Oct. 13 to help serve food and, in doing so, raise money. A percentage of all the sales from 5 to 9 p.m. went to the PTA.

“This is our second year doing this fundraiser,” said School 4 Principal Joanna Kletter. “Any money that they raise will go towards a variety of things this year: some will be used for their overnight trip to Frost Valley, money can be used to have Sixth Grade Day, for their yearbook — for whatever expenses there are in the sixth grade.”

Kletter said that most of the money will probably go towards the overnight trip, which is the most costly of the events that sixth graders participate in.

“It’s fun,” Kletter said of the fundraiser. “It’s funny, because the kids think I work there then. Especially the younger ones.”
