Getting their game on

It’s not often that kids are encouraged to go to the library so they can play video games. But that’s exactly what happened in Island Park on April 20.

Kids came to the library to learn the basics of game design from instructors from the Game Builders Academy — a Westbury-based group that teaches kids about science, math and technology through video game design and robotics.

Designed for grades 5 through 8, the children were taught the basics of animation and the fundamentals of video game design.

By the time they finished, all of the kids had designed a fully-functional game.
