On Sept. 21, the Island Park Fire Department and the Bellmore Fire Department squared off in the championship softball game in the fire department league at Baldwin Park. Bellmore defeated Island Park last year. But history did not repeat itself. Island Park defeated Bellmore and crowned themselves the championship team.
