A Jazz Genius!
Jazz pianist Fred Hersch performs selections from his diverse repertoire when his visits Adelphi University for a solo performance, “A Jazz Genius!” Hersch comes to Adelphi following a recent European concert tour through Belgium, Austria, and Portugal, and a solo concert at the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall. Critics have hailed him as “a largely unsung innovator of this borderless, individualistic jazz – a jazz for the 21st century” Hirsch has received much acclaim for his unique style, with features on the CBS Sunday Morning Show and National Public Radio programs. He leads a free two-hour jazz master class with the Adelphi Jazz Ensemble earlier in the day.

Irish Family Fun Day
Celebrate Irish culture when Hofstra hosts an interactive event for families. Kids will learn about Irish arts and crafts, Gaelic sports, traditional music, step dancing, and the Irish language. There will also be story-telling and films. The event concludes with an ice cream and cookies social, when children will share their
experiences throughout the day.

Spring Delights

Nature Walk
Explore Muttontown Preserve for the first “Signs of Spring.” Discover displays of bright spring color throughout the fields and trails on the guided walk through some the Preserve’s 550 acres of fields, woodlands, ponds, and estate grounds. Look for the new season’s emerging colors and see early migrating birds. View spice bush, snowdrops and cypress spurge, along with aromatic plants.
