New Year's Day adventure at Jones Beach

See some of the seals that make their winter home here, with a New Year’s Day stroll along the shoreline at Jones Beach. It's a fascinating look at the seals that visit our area each winter.

The program, on Sunday, Jan. 1, from 10:30 a.m.-noon, starts with an overview of the local seal species at Jones Beach State Park's Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center. Then take a leisurely walk along the beach, led by a naturalist, to a location where seals are frequently viewed. You many be able to glimpse up to four species of seals. Be sure to dress appropriately and wear comfortable footwear for hiking.
