Oceanside/Island Park Herald seeking interns

The Oceanside/Island Park Herald will provide an intern with a valuable opportunity to learn — first hand — the challenges and rewards of reporting and publishing community news, writing feature stories and communicating information that people can use. 

The intern's first priority will be helping with the revision of the Oceanside and Island Park Almanac and Newcomer's Guide. Responsibilities will include fact checking, updating and freshening the Guide for 2010.

We will also give a select college student who has an interest in community journalism the chance to discover what it’s like to work in the newspaper and information-delivery field. The intern may be exposed to all aspects of newspaper operations, including reporting and editing. The internship is unpaid. 

This internship is available immediately. The goal of an internship at the Herald is to develop an appreciation and understanding for community journalism, especially reporting news and feature stories.
