Running through the rain at SNCH 5K

The rain didn’t deter more than a hundred participants from coming out to run in South Nassau Communities Hospital’s annual 5K walk/run.

And they’re off! More than 100 runners came out to South Nassau Communities Hospital last Sunday to participate in its annual 5K Walk/Run. The wet weather forced the hospital to cancel the annual Health Fair it holds with the 5K, but Mother Nature couldn’t stop the determined runners.

Rain may have stopped the Multi-Cultural Health Fair, but it could not keep over 100 runners away from South Nassau Communities Hospital’s 18th annual “Communities for a Cure” 5K Run/Walk on Sept. 27.
The morning would have offered over 80 booths at the fair, with free screenings for blood pressure and Body Mass Index, but instead was truncated to just the 5k by inclement weather.
The runners, however, couldn’t care less about the rain, as their turnout showed.
