Just in time for holiday shopping, Lord & Taylor in Garden City is having its annual benefit fall sale on Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. In this economy we need all the help we can get and the West Hempstead Community Scholarship Fund invites you to participate.

The West Hempstead Community Scholarship Fund is selling admission and coupon tickets for $5 each. This will give you a 15 percent savings pass for the day, including cosmetics and fragrances (even UGGS), a one-use 20 percent bonus and a one-use 25 percent bonus. Lord & Taylor cardholders receive an additional 10 percent off.

With a ticket, you can even pre-select your purchases starting on Oct. 23 and pick them up on Nov. 1 or the day after. And you’ll support the Community Scholarship Fund as well because the Fund keeps all proceeds from ticket sales.

The West Hempstead Community Scholarship Fund Inc. was established in the 1969-70 school year to coordinate and standardize many scholarship efforts in West Hempstead.  Since its inception, the fund has distributed $335,000 to 251 students. The WHCSF is a nonprofit organization, chartered by the State of New York and administered by a board of trustees, elected by participating members. The fund hosts several fundraising events each year culminating in the annual awards dinner in June.

College scholarship applications are available if you are a West Hempstead resident or an Island Park student attending West Hempstead High School. They will be available in January from the high school guidance office and other locations.

If you would like to buy tickets for the Lord & Taylor event or find out more information about the fund, contact President Jeanine Kurs via email at whcsf@aol.com.
