Turning snow to dollars

A pair of high school students from Island Park turned the snow it cash shoveling out their neighbor’s walks and driveways. Jonathan Zwecker and Brandon Flaum were knocking on doors by 9 a.m. on Jan. 27, but the snow was still falling and people turned them away.

Zwecker’s father and mother got into the act and began posting their son’s phone number on Facebook. “Calls began coming around 11 a.m.,” Zwecker said. His father, Doron, gave the pair some pointers on how to do the job quickly and efficiently, and they went back out.

Zwecker said they managed to clean five homes, mostly on Harbor Isle, and brought in $250. He said it took them about 20 minutes to do one house, the walkways, stairs and driveway.
