Who said kindergarten was easy?

Posted

Not long ago, a typical day in kindergarten consisted primarily of playtime and social activities. This is no longer true as today’s kindergartners are busy developing their vocabulary, grammar and math skills, as well as learning about the history of the United States. During a recent lesson at Francis X. Hegarty Elementary School in Island Park, kindergarten teacher Kelly Kolensky incorporated a vocabulary and coloring activity to expose students to the many facets of Christopher Columbus’s life and help them understand how he was credited with discovering America.
