The foundation is currently accepting applications for relief, and has already had 60 families apply. They have not yet decided exactly how many families they will be assisting. But Whelan says they will treat each case individually and provide assistance on need-based scale. Families who are interested in receiving aid can find the application on the Jaime Whelan Foundation website.

On Dec. 14., they will be hosting a benefit for Hurricane Sandy victims at New York City restaurant Hudson Station. General admission is $100, and a VIP ticket is $500. There will be an open bar, food, prizes and several actors and athletes are scheduled to appear, including NHL Hall of Famer and NY Rangers legend Brian Leetch.

For more information on upcoming events, how to donate or how to be considered for assistance, visit the foundation’s website, www.jaimewhelanfoundation.com.
