The Long Beach Police Department found an arsenal of illegal weapons in the home of a Long Beach man last week.

Officers initially arrested Daniel Gobic, 31, for criminal obstruction of breathing on Oct. 25. But upon further investigation, officers discovered a number of illegal weapons and ammunition in Gobic’s East Market Street home. Officers recovered four illegal assault weapons, four illegal handguns, two shotguns, 38 large-capacity ammunition feeding devices, 4,700 rounds of ammunition and a number of fireworks. The department said they believe Gobic attained some of the weapons and ammunition in Florida, and brought them to Long Beach in July. Gobic was charged with 51 felony weapon-related counts.

“New York has very intricate and serious gun laws, which this defendant violated many of,” said Police Commissioner Tangney. “The LBPD is committed to keeping illegal guns off out streets, and this arrest is a testament to that commitment and to the expertise of our officers and detectives in a very complex area of law enforcement.”
