On Stage

At the opera
Michael Spierman's Bronx Opera Company makes its annual visit to Hofstra with the comic opera Don Pasquale by Gaetano Donizetti. The fully staged production is performed in English, with a 30-piece orchestra. Don Pasquale is a wealthy, and lonely, old man who has decided to disinherit his nephew, Ernesto, because he disapproves of the young man’s desire to marry the young, penniless widow Norina. The antics that follow make this opera a crowd-pleaser.
Friday, May 14, 8 p.m.; Saturday, May 15, 2 p.m. $30, $25 seniors, $10 students. Hofstra University’s John Cranford Adams Playhouse, South Campus, Hempstead.
