An elderly man was struck by a minivan this morning as he was crossing Park Avenue.
Long Beach Fire Chief Rich Corbett said that the incident occurred around 8:10 a.m. The man, whose age was not disclosed, was crossing Park Avenue, east of Riverside Boulevard, in front of the Post Office. Corbett said that the man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The man was transported to South Nassau Communities Hospital and is expected to recover, Corbett said.
It was unclear if any charges or violations were issued to the driver of the vehicle. Long Beach police did not immediately return a call for comment.
