Arcadia/Suburbia: Architecture on Long Island, 1930-2010
The exhibit examines the impressive architectural history of Long Island, especially on the North Shore. It underscores the role Long Island played in the development of Modernist and Post-Modernist movements in the U.S. and charts the region’s development from a largely agrarian society and leisure destination to a “mature” suburban culture. Projects by such leading architects as Frank Lloyd Wright, Philip Johnson, Marcel Breuer, Jose Luis Sert, John Hejduk, Edward Durrell Stone, Paul Rudolph, Robert Venturi, and Charles Moore are included. Through April 11. Heckscher Museum of Art, Main St. and Prime Ave., Huntington.
