Folk Sounds

Gathering Time
Malverne-based Stuart Markus brings his folk trio Gathering Time to Garden City for an evening of harmonious folk melodies. Markus, Glen Roethel and Hillary Foxsong are fast becoming known on the local and national folk scene for their seamless vocal blend, memorable melodies, meaningful lyrics, and easy-going chemistry on stage. Their original songs reveal the influences of The Byrds, Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, and many more harmonizing favorites from the golden era of ‘60s folk-rock with ‘70s acoustic rock – and they’ve been known to delight audiences when they sprinkle in some of those classics among their own tunes.
Friday, March 4, 8:30 p.m. (with open mic at 7:30 p.m.) $15 in advance, $18 at door. Garden Stage at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Central Nassau, 223 Stewart Ave., Garden City. (516) 248-8891 or www.gardenstage.com.
