Long Beach High School celebrates homecoming

Posted

Long Beach High School’s 2009 homecoming festivities culiminated under the Friday-night lights of Veterans’ Memorial Field at the middle school when the Marines lined up against Great Neck South on Sept. 25. The Marines put up a good fight but came up shy of a victory, with the Rebels pulling off a 15-13 win.

The evening’s activities began with a parade down Lido Boulevard. Homecoming king and queen L.C. Eddins III and Sarah Piazza were escorted to the game in style by the high school marching band, student government officers, PTA Morning Madness Committee members, district administrators and members of the Board of Education. The homecoming carnival, sponsored by the Student Government Organization, featured food, games and activities for children of all ages. Volunteers from many school clubs and honor societies provided entertainment that included international foods, a pie toss, wedding booth, Guitar Hero and other carnival games.

Homecoming weekend was capped off with a ceremony on Saturday morning when new members to the Long Beach High School Wall of Fame were introduced. This year’s inductees were Mitch Fenton, Audrey Remo, Gregory Sofield and Carmine Verde.
