LBHS students to perform at music festivals

Posted

Fifty-one Long Beach students in grades four through 12 qualified to perform in the New York State Music Association’s (NYSMA) All-County Festival in January. They will join a select group of musicians from all over Nassau County for a gala concert series at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, featuring select band, chorus, orchestra and jazz band performances. Hundreds of students auditioned for this honor at the NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festivals held last spring. For a list of all the participants, visit lbeach.org/arts.

Four students were chosen to participate in the Long Island String Festival Association (LISFA) string festivals. Jennifer Nash and Mark DeGuzman performed at the LISFA Secondary Festival in November. Halle Henry and Victoria Epstein will perform in the LISFA Elementary Festival in March. All were recognized as representing the highest quality string musicians at their grade level.
