How these women are healing Long Beach through the arts

Majestic Healing, a healing arts production company in Long Beach, is a city-wide, arts and wellness movement. They created and hosted a new event Sunday, The Art of Wellness Holiday Experience.

The experience was at Bridgeworks, 780 Long Beach Blvd., and saw a large gathering of community members banding together. People still came out in the pouring rain to celebrate the holidays and the healing arts.

Their mission was to bring the community together to shop while highlighting local businesses, artists and healers. Mindi Dovberg of Art of Wellness and Kimberly Angela Pierson of Majestic Healing co-produced the event in about four weeks.

“I’ve been Long Beach for 21 years, and Kimberly and I linked together in 2015,” Dovberg said. “Today what we are doing is exactly what we manifested and desired way back then. It’s been quite a journey for both of us through healing, and everything.”

Majestic Healing brought together vendors to showcase their unique products and healing services. Artists shared their creations and everyone who attended had their own experience that was fun, engaging and special all at once. They bought gifts from local creators and handmade gifts for everyone on their holiday lists.

“We went to each of these businesses, and they offered services and it was really a beautiful experience for them,” Pierson said.

The combination of love, healing and wellness was evident as they were shopping for their loved ones.

There were opportunities to enjoy the unique event by listening to music, face painting, painting edible cookie mandalas and holiday cards and wrapping gifts with recycled paper collected from across the community. The day finished off with a special, unifying drum circle.

“We started doing small events and different spaces for years,” said Pierson. “Mindy and I kept talking to different art groups about the healing arts and that’s when Artists in Partnership brought us in under a healing arts platform. We decided to create The Art of Wellness.”

After doing The Art of Wellness for the past two years with Artists in Partnership, Inc., they gained a following and people gravitated to them, asking “How can I be a part of this community?”

“We have to credit Johanna Mathieson, because she awarded Kimberly and I with the healing arts recognition for Women in the Arts,” Dovberg said, “and actually created that category for us.” Mathieson is the director of AIP.

The duo has partnered up with Drop Desk — with a little help — and are starting The Healing Arts Studios, at 670 Long Beach Blvd.  Healing Arts Studios is a mecca of innovative leaders in the field of wellness.

"I partnered with Drop Desk and Bridgeworks in Long Beach earlier this year and helped them to repurpose their office building into a Healing Arts Center by introducing them to my friends at Majestic Healing and Art of Wellness," Stephanie Badillo, of Christie's International Real Estate Group and a member of Artists in Partnership, said in an email. "I've been on a mission for almost 10 years to repurpose commercial real estate and saw the opportunity to involve my fellow winners of Artist in Partnerships' Woman of the Arts."

Majestic Healing and Art of Wellness are a community committed to wellness and education and offer a flexible environment to meet the revolutionary needs of practitioners, educators, doctors, therapists and coaches who would benefit from working in a collaborative environment with the focus on healing and wellness education.
