L.B. Chamber to hold its dinner dance Nov. 1

U.S. Rep. Kathleen Rice will be honored as its Woman of the Year

The Long Beach Chamber of Commerce will its 52nd annual Dinner Dance at the Sands at Atlantic Beach on Sunday, Nov. 1. This year’s honorees feature a group of special individuals from the Long Beach community.

The prestigious Woman of the Year award will go to longtime former Nassau County district attorney — U.S. Rep. Kathleen Rice. This year’s Merchant of the Year honors go to Brian Bergman owner of Meyerson-Roth Co/DCAP Insurance. Bergman is a second-generation business owner in Long Beach that is linked to four Long Beach families. The Professional of the Year, Scott Nigro, practices law in Long Beach and has served the city over the years in various elected and appointed capacities.

This year’s Edmund A. Buscemi Public Service Award will be shared by three recipients and longtime residents who have worked tirelessly advocating for a new, full-service hospital facility: Barbara Bernardino, Phyllis Libutti and Dr. Martin Gruber.

The prestigious event that attracts more than 500 business owners and residents from Long Beach and its surrounding communities as well as elected officials and dignitary’s form all levels of government will be a formal dinner event from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday November 1, 2015 at the Sands at Atlantic Beach. Awards ceremonies will start a 7 p.m. promptly. There will be a nine-piece orchestra for dancing and listening pleasure along with the Sand’s famous Viennese dessert tables after the awards ceremony.
