Police are searching for a man who they said is responsible for a burglary at an apartment building on Shore Road.

Fliers posted in the lobbies of Shore Road high-rises show surveillance camera images of a man that the Long Beach Police Department believes to be responsible for an apartment burglary that took place in March along the 600 block of Shore Road.

“We have a person on our flier who is the subject of our investigation,” said Lieutenant Eric Cregeen, public information officer for the LBPD. “We are urging the public, if they recognize this individual, to call us on the tip line.”

According to the poster, the suspect is a white male, between ages 40 to 50, with black hair, a heavy build, potbelly and a large nose.

Cregeen described the case as a “very active investigation,” and said video from the building’s surveillance camera showed the suspect walking throughout the building.

It provided police with clear images of the man from many different angles. These images are included on the wanted poster, he said.

Police are asking residents of the area to be on alert and keep an eye out for this man. If spotted, residents are being asked to contact the LBPD at (516) 431-4800 with the location, and description of the suspect’s clothing or vehicle, if possible.

If anyone can identify the man from the pictures, or has any other pertinent information, Cregeen urged them to call the LBPD’s confidential tip line at (516) 705-7370.

“We’ll take whatever they’ve got — clothing description, vehicle description, license plate number,” said Cregeen. “Anything they can forward to us would be a big help to our investigation.”
